When a surgical extraction is needed

Some teeth can’t be removed with a simple extraction because they’re impacted, fractured, or positioned below the gumline. Surgical extraction provides a precise, controlled way to remove these teeth safely while protecting the surrounding bone and tissue.

Common reasons include:

  • Broken or severely decayed teeth below the gumline
  • Impacted wisdom teeth or crowding
  • Teeth with unusual root shapes or curvature
  • Retained roots left from prior extractions
At Rox Dental Studio, we combine advanced imaging with gentle surgical techniques to make the process efficient, comfortable, and predictable.

What to expect during your procedure

image

Comfort first

We begin with local anesthesia to completely numb the area. For highly complex cases, we’ll discuss additional comfort options.

Precise removal

A small incision is made in the gum, and the tooth is carefully sectioned into smaller pieces for easier removal.

Clean and close

Once removed, the site is cleaned and sutured to promote smooth healing.

Clear aftercare

You’ll leave with written instructions, a protective gauze pack, and guidance for at-home care.

The procedure typically takes less than an hour, and most patients return to their normal routines in two to three days.

Recovery and aftercare

Soreness and mild swelling are normal for the first 24–48 hours. Apply cold compresses, avoid smoking or drinking through a straw, and eat soft foods. Keep the site clean by gently rinsing with warm salt water after 24 hours. We’ll schedule a follow-up visit to check your healing and remove any sutures if necessary.

Protecting your future smile

After healing, we’ll discuss replacement options if needed—such as partial dentures, bridges, or other restorative solutions—to maintain your bite balance and prevent neighboring teeth from shifting.
